12/18/09 - Dave:

Hey. It has been six months, and we have done nothing at all related to this project. wow. I'm sorry. maybe some more things will happen here someday. Maybe not, we'll see.

one luff.

6/11/09 - Dave:

Well, those other Carl-game-making-bozos have posted an inflammatory video directed at us, and we have posted another response. If you like, you can review the history of this epic conflict here. We'll see where this goes from here. Also, we are ready to reveal the title of the next episode, which will be out sometime towards the end of July. The title is 'Where THe F**k Is Zack Moliver', and, as we've said before, will involve another gang of goons (goonettes?) embarking on adventure. other than that, during the rest of June we are gonna be shooting some of the cut scenes that will be included in the first full-length CQ title, and gearing up to get back to work on that in earnest. expect more news soon. rock.

First of all, today I have Carl's response to the now-infamous 'Carl's Quest' video, and it can be viewed here.

Also, I have the plotline of the main game pretty much fully mapped out, and we're working on getting the basic structure set up for it and drawing the maps and crap. As it looks now, the game will have ten unique ending, and which one you get will depend on choices that you make during the game, as well as your level of completion. Also, the ending you get, along with certain other choices, will determine the Carl that you end up with at the very end. For those that don't mind spoilers, the possible Carls are:

    - Hero Carl

    - Outcast Carl

    - Dark Mage Carl

    - Dark Rouge Carl

    - Knight of Fire Carl

    - Warrior Carl

    - Cyborg Carl

    - King Carl

4/02/09 - Dave:

So, last time, I mentioned that there was a slight legal issue that needed to be addressed. This is the situation. Apparently, there is another bunch of bozos who are making a video game (or at least, videos) about some other goon named Carl. This, as I am sure you can imagine. will not stand. Our response to these enemy rpgmakers can be found here. We'll be seeing where this goes in the coming weeks.

Now that that is out of the way, I may as well make it official the there is going to be another side story on the way this spring. We have yet to agree on a title, but at the same time we are also now back to working on the full CQ game, and I promise you that both of these titles will blow the brains right out of your little skulls. Stay tuned.

Wow, it's actually been less than a year since anybody updated this site! I certainly wasn't expecting that! Well, as is plainly obvious, we've had a stupid, wasted, shitty year. However, we have every intention to get our shit together in 2009. Keep an eye turned this way for further news and updates as events warrant. First off, there is a slight legal issue that we are going to need to address, and once that is off the table, we're gonna break ground on a little, as-yet-untitled CQ side story, which will introduce a third gang that will be taking the stage alongside The Kiddies and The Funboys in the full CQ game. So yeah. Wish us luck and motivation.

Okay, well, it's 2008. That's just terrific. About two and a half weeks ago Dave and Tom posted a message saying that a new site would be up in a few days, but then one of them was too busy watching football and the other was too busy puking his guts out. Well, as they say, all's well that ends well, and the site is up, so, hooray I guess. When the other bozos get ready to work on the main game again, you'll hear about it here first, but until then, I'm gonna go draw some pictures of little animals, and maybe get the map done/ uploaded. Anyway, we'll post updates on this page. woop.

old site words/ info/ don't sue us:

"Carl Quest" was made with RPGmaker2000 by Ascii. It is a not-for-profit-project. The translation of RM2K used was the 'Don Miguel' translation, which seems to be the most prolific version. Much of the sprites and backgrounds are the property of Ascii, while the photographs and other 'large character' sprites, and all larger illustrations are by and remain the property of waterlizard team. When the game is finished, we intend to submit all media created directly by us to the public domain for the benefit of the rpg-making community. Several image sets and midis were provided by various internet sources which are credited in the game. Other images are used without permission.*

Aside from all that, the storyline, level design, event programming, character concepts, main logos, and overall concept of "Carl Quest" is the sole property of Waterlizard Team and we would appreciate it if no one stole any of that stuff.

"Carl Quest" is based on (an extremely exaggerated version of) actual events. Very few names or places have been changed to protect the innocent.*

*Please don't sue us, we are funny.

Carl Quest is yet another questionably worthwhile project from the Waterlizard Team. If you have questions or comments about this site or the game, you can get up with us on the WL forum. If you prefer a more direct approach, you can send some email to Reggie at:

If you are from some big game company here to check us out, it should be fairly obvious, after playing our demos, that Dave, Tom, and sometimes Pat are creative geniuses and master game designers. You should give us a lot of money to write/ direct a game for you. We will all make a jillion dollars. you know it. We're waiting for your call.
